Centerpiece of The Great Aussie Backyard is the TAFE NSW Landscaping Challenge, a showcase of the next generation of landscapers. There are ideas here for courtyard gardens and you’d be amazed by what you can do in a limited space.

Native birds and animals bring a special presence to a garden. There’s nothing like a pair of lorikeets feeding on Grevillea flowers, and the Bushcare people can show you how to conserve and restore habitat for native flora and fauna.

Be sure to take the kids to Little Diggers for a play in the sandpit and the cubby house, and they’ll get to plant a seed to take home and watch it grow.

And don’t miss Australian Wildlife Displays, although you might not want to take home any of the critters on display.
